NewsNis Constantine the Great Airport adapting and expanding its passenger terminalFriday, 24. Jun 2016.The Nis Constantine the Great Airport recorded an increase in the number of passengers in 2015 and the first half of 2016 relative to 2014. The total number of passengers in 2014 was 1,335, in 2015 it was 36, 258, and in the first five months of 2016, the number reached 26,380. The Nis airport informs eKapija that it has announced the development of passenger transport and cargo transport, as well as the building of a logistics center. The tender for the preparation of the project of the development of a passenger terminal was placed today. The documentation should include the project of the adaptation and extension of the existing terminal. The project needs to define the technical, technological and traffic engineering elements necessary for determining the feasibility of the adaptation and extension of the terminal. The procurement of new equipment and the construction process must be defined within the said projects. Due to a larger number of passengers, and in order to secure the uninterrupted traffic flow at peak hours, it is necessary to install additional check-ins for passenger and luggage registration along with the adequate transport system. It is necessary to expand the capacities for checking and securing the passengers and hand luggage before entering the restricted area and to see if it is feasible to keep the existing customs booth or if it needs to expand its capacity. The necessary capacity of the airport which should follow the planned workload means the simultaneous servicing of two planes, i.e. servicing a total of 380 departing passengers and 380 arriving passengers.
