A Step Toward Increase of Capacity of Copper Smelter in Bor

Serbia Zijin Copper d.o.o has filed a request to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for determining the scope and the content of the Study of the assessment of the impact of the project of the increase of the capacity of the copper smelter in Bor.
The announcement was made on the ministry’s website two days ago, and the public review and the filing of opinions can be done within 15 days of the date of the announcement.
As eKapija has already reported, Zijin Bor Copper plans to reconstruct and upgrade the processes and facilities to the end of increasing the capacity of the copper smelter, with the goal of increasing the capacity of the production of cathode copper from the current 80,000 tons a year to 150,000 tons a year and with the possibility of the further expansion of the capacity to 200,000 tons a year.
Several days ago, the managing director of Zijin, Jian Ximing, announced that the Chinese company planned to invest USD 1.26 billion in Serbia.
