Telekom Srbija Planning to Buy Globaltel, Whose Owner is Pink Media Group

Thursday, 08. Jun 2023.

Telekom Srbija plans to take over, that is, buy, a 100% stake in Globaltel, whose majority owner is Zeljko Mitrovic’s Pink Media Group, stated the CEO of Telekom Srbija, Vladimir Lucic.

Lucic said for today’s issue of the NIN weekly that it was not true that the purchase of the mobile virtual operator was a compensation to the owner of TV Pink for the removal of the reality show “Zadruga” at the request of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, or a compensation to one of the co-owners of Globaltel, Sava Terzic, for the termination of the agreement of the City of Belgrade with the company Kentkart pertaining to fare collection in Belgrade’s public transit company GSP.

The CEO of Telekom said that it was “a business strategy of the company I run and the negotiations about the purchase of Globaltel started months before said agreement was terminated and the decision to remove the reality show on TV Pink was made.”

Talking about the price, Vladimir Lucic said that “it is a business secret, but it’s not true that it is EUR 17 million.”

When asked why Telekom was buying Globaltel, Lucic said that the strategy of Telekom was to “consolidate the market and take over the competition in the market.”
